Overview
Christian Hospital is a full-service acute care community hospital located on 28 acres in north St. Louis County. Christian Hospital is noted for its excellence in heart services and lifesaving cardiothoracic surgery, emergency medicine, breast health services, orthopedic/spine surgery, hyperbaric wound care, pain management, vascular surgery, endocrinology, gastrointestinal care, stroke care, nephrology, therapy, radiology, urology, pulmonary care and treating sleep disorders.
Northwest HealthCare, located six miles west of Christian Hospital, provides the community 24-hour emergency care, with Washington University Physicians and St. Louis Children’s Hospital providing pediatric services. Northwest HealthCare is also home to the Sleep Disorders Center and a variety of full-service outpatient diagnostic and imaging services in a convenient setting.

Role Purpose
Coordinates the technical activities of the department (inventory management, R&D, technical procedures and Policies, CAP readiness, etc.). Also performs testing and processing of routine and complex testing on blood and other specimens as well as acts as a resource person to staff.
Responsibilities
Assesses workload, prioritizes work, makes staffing adjustments and assists staff when needed. Coordinates/reviews schedules with supervisors and coordinators to ensure adequate staffing for shift.
Ensures maintenance of laboratory services and quality in accordance with prescribed standards and policies of the system, government and other accreditation agencies.
Takes responsibility for the daily operations, both technically and administratively, for the shift to ensure quality services. Coordinates with all lab supervisors and frontline staff to ensure laboratory goals are met to improve quality service and reduce costs.
Develops appropriate QA monitors with supervisor and implements processes for shift to ensure quality. Evaluates data, identifies problems, and recommends solutions.
Teaches and/or trains new and established staff members and Clinical Laboratory Scientist students in routine and specialized techniques used in the laboratory. Participates in competency assessment of staff.
